Waycross grandfather is ready for some football

Friday, August 20, 2010

ATLANTA – A grandfather in Waycross has won season tickets for a new season of football. Roger Collins of Waycross won an Atlanta Falcons season ticket package playing the new Georgia Lottery instant game Atlanta Falcons $500,000 Score.

Collins, 43, purchased his winning ticket at Johnny’s Food Store, 819 Glenmore Ave., in Waycross.

“I just bought one on a whim,” he said.

The Atlanta Falcons season ticket package for the 2011 football season includes two lower level season tickets, a season parking pass, two authentic jerseys and $1,000 in game day cash.

The grandfather of two is expecting his third grandchild this fall. He and his wife, Pam, have six adult children.

“They’ve already been calling dibs,” he said. “I don’t know that I’ll be at every game but someone in my family will. Those seats will be filled.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $11.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.25 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
