Wednesday, August 21, 2013

ATLANTA – A car enthusiast is revved up with excitement over a Win for Life win from a ticket purchased in Valdosta. Cary Smith, 70, matched five winning numbers plus the Free Ball from the Aug. 17 drawing to win $1,000 a week for a year, totaling $52,000.

The O’Brien, Fla., resident purchased his winning Quik Pik ticket at Flash Foods #0010, 1720 Gornto Road in Valdosta.

He claimed his prize Monday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Tifton.

Smith used the ticket checker at the store following the drawing to check his ticket and was surprised at his discovery.

“I was excited. It was a shock to me,” he said.

With a love of classic cars, Smith anticipates using his winnings to work on his own antiques.

Winning numbers from the Aug. 17 Win for Life drawing were: 10-16-17-21-27-31 and the Free Ball was 8.

Win for Life is a multi-state game played in Georgia and Virginia.
