ATLANTA – Myrtle Smith, a Blakely grandmother who won $75,000 in March, has doubled her luck and her winnings. Mrs. Smith played Giant Jumbo Bucks and won the Georgia Lottery instant game’s $150,000 top prize. This win comes less than two months after Mrs. Smith won the top prize on the instant game Happy Mother’s Day.
“I can’t believe it!” exclaims Mrs. Smith. “I just went numb.”
Mrs. Smith purchased both of her lucky tickets from the same clerk at Quick Buys #0104, located at 18173 E. South Blvd. in Blakely.
“It’s unreal. The same store, the same lady, but it’s double the prize!” says Mrs. Smith.
The 62-year-old retired bus driver shared her previous prize with family and friends, and she plans to do the same with new winnings. Mrs. Smith says she’ll also invest and may purchase a new van.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
