ATLANTA – One Fort Valley bride-to-be is relishing an eye-catching prize from the Georgia Lottery just weeks before her wedding. Sherell Daniel, 34, has won a $200,000 top prize playing the instant game Lady Jumbo Bucks.
She claimed her prize Thursday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Macon.
Daniel is set to be married in November, and she considers her windfall a memorable experience.
“I am excited! I don’t know what to do,” she exclaimed.
She her fiancé, Dion, stopped at Family Food Mart, 402 Camellia Blvd. in Fort Valley, and purchased the ticket before going grocery shopping. Daniel scratched the winning ticket in her car.
“I shouted, ‘Baby, I’ve got it,’ ” she recalled. “I was shaking so much.”
A shift manager for a fast food restaurant, Daniel intends to pay off bills, purchase a new car and contribute a portion of the windfall toward her wedding ceremony.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
