Thomaston woman wins seismic $1M prize

Friday, September 27, 2013

ATLANTA – One lucky Thomaston woman has won a superb prize playing a Georgia Lottery instant game. Angela Bozeman, 45, won a $1 million top prize playing $1,000,000 Gold Rush.

Georgia Lottery representatives presented the lucky winner with an oversized check Wednesday at Southside Grocery, 5775 Indian Trail Road in Thomaston, the store where the winning ticket was sold.

Bozeman, who works for a plastics manufacturing plant, was speechless.

“I was just going down to get some gas,” Bozeman explained. “It didn’t seem real. It didn’t feel like reality.”

With her husband, Waldo, Bozeman intends to purchase a new car for her teenage daughter, and she plans to pay off bills.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
