ATLANTA – A Stone Mountain man has won a jaw-dropping prize from the Georgia Lottery. Sokheng Chay, 38, played the Georgia Lottery 20th Anniversary Extravaganza instant game and won a $1 million prize.
Peachtree Newsstand #0005, 3350 Peachtree Road N.E. in Atlanta, sold the winning ticket.
A lead disability case manager, Chay eyed the ticket for three days before purchasing it.
“I figured that it must be waiting on me,” he said. “When I scratched the ticket I said, ‘This can’t be right. This can’t be real!’”
Chay describes the prize as “meant to be.”
“I’m going to get my mom and myself new cars, help all of my family members and will invest the remainder,” he shared.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
