ATLANTA – A Roberta chicken and horse farmer has landed a spiffy prize from the Georgia Lottery. Kathy Jackson, 50, won a $50,000 top prize playing Jumbo Bucks Classic.
Coming from her granddaughter’s birthday celebration, Jackson purchased her lucky ticket at Nick Food Mart, 2015 Highway 341 in Fort Valley.
“My husband and I like the Jumbo tickets, and we scratched them at home,” she said.
Shocked, Jackson and her husband, Scotty, looked at each other in disbelief.
“We’re going to pay bills and save the rest,” the lucky winner shared.
In addition to their chickens and horses, the Jacksons have two adult daughters and three grandchildren.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
