$1M Powerball prize routed to IT architect through iHOPE

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

ATLANTA – An Acworth information technology architect has plugged into a Powerball prize worth $1 million months after purchasing the lucky ticket online with an iHOPEcard. Adam Missner, 47, matched the first five numbers from the Dec. 11 Powerball drawing, winning $1 million.

Missner, who works for The Coca-Cola Co., claimed his prize Feb. 7 at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta upon the discovery of an unread email notification confirming his windfall.

For the father of six, URL has new meaning: You Are Lucky.

Missner purchased a Powerball Quik Pik ticket on mygalottery.com with an iHOPEcard.

“I didn’t know! I missed the email,” he said. “I searched my emails, and there it was, sitting there unread.”

Winning numbers from the Dec. 11 Powerball drawing were: 1-10-13-18-19 and the Powerball was 27.

Georgia Lottery representatives presented Missner with an oversized check Tuesday at Cauble Park in Acworth.

Missner, who celebrated his birthday earlier this month, also is engaged.

“I’ve always wanted to get a backyard pool, and my fiancé and I are going to have a nice honeymoon,” he shared.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is an estimated $400 million to a single annuity winner.

Fantasy 5, Mega Millions and Powerball tickets are available online with an iHOPE account.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
