Lucky lady selects instant ticket worth $50K in Houston Co.

ATLANTA – One lucky lady has rounded up a $50,000 prize playing a Georgia Lottery instant game. Carol Henley of Locust Grove played the popular instant ticket Jumbo Bucks Classic and won a $50,000 top prize.

Marathon of Perry, 105 Marshallville Road in Perry, sold the winning ticket.  Henley, 40, scratched it in her car.

“I had to look at it a few times,” she said. “My kids and I were out enjoying the weather, and all of a sudden I get this ticket with $50,000!”

In disbelief, Henley is excited over her windfall.

A mother of three with her husband, Brent, the couple also have two dogs and a cat.

“We’re going to get a bigger house,” Henley shared. “This helps us out a bit more.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
