$50K windfall routed to retired Camden Co. truck driver

Friday, March 28, 2014

ATLANTA – Robert Dotson, a retired Camden County truck driver, will get moving with his dream kitchen with a big prize from the Georgia Lottery. Dotson, 74, played the popular instant game Jumbo Bucks Classic and won a $50,000 top prize.

Green Cedar Food Store #0002, 946 Point Peter Road in St. Marys, sold the winning ticket, and Dotson scratched it at home.

“I feel great. I couldn’t believe it,” he said.

Retired 12 years as a trucker, Dotson and his wife, Ella, have three adult children and eight grandchildren.

The lucky winner wants to use the winnings to expand his kitchen.

“I like to cook, but I do more of the eating,” Dotson quipped.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
