ATLANTA – A Coffee County woman was jumping for joy after winning $20,000 while grabbing a morning cup of coffee. Cheryl McCollim of Nicholls played the new Georgia Lottery instant game Maximum Money Madness, winning a $20,000 top prize.
McCollim, 39, claimed her prize June 5 at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Tifton.
“I went to the store for coffee, and it was some kind of good morning,” the lucky winner exclaimed.
Attracted to the new ticket, McCollim purchased it and scratched it in the car while in the store’s parking lot.
“I said, ‘There is no way,’ ” she recalled. “I feel great.”
A home care nurse, McCollim anticipates paying off her bills with the windfall.
USA Discount Beverage, 121 Gordon St. East in Douglas, sold the winning ticket.
