ATLANTA – A Waycross great-grandfather of four is all smiles, especially since collecting a $1 million prize from the Georgia Lottery. Ronald Dixon, 65, won his $1 million top prize playing the instant game $1,000,000 Gold Rush.
Dixon claimed his prize Monday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Tifton.
Discount Convenience, 1967 State St. in Waycross, sold the winning ticket, and Dixon scratched it in the store.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “Winning feels great.”
In addition to his four great-grandchildren, Dixon and his wife, Wanda, have five adult children and four grandchildren.
The lucky winner anticipates paying off bills with his windfall.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
