Wednesday, July 9, 2014

ATLANTA – A Telfair County woman is pleased with a lifetime win from the Georgia Lottery. Lajuana Tucker of McRae has won $26,000 a year for life playing the instant game $500 A Week For Life.

Blue Bell, 66 W. Oak St. in McRae, sold the winning ticket.

“I almost had a heart attack. I started screaming,” said Tucker, 44. “It does feel great.”

The lucky winner has three adult children and two grandchildren.

Tucker plans to help her children financially, and she plans to purchase a new house with her windfall.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
