ATLANTA – A Cobb County monument builder has won a monumental Georgia Lottery prize. Richard Sailors Jr. of Marietta won a $1 million top prize playing the instant game Maximum Green.
Sailors, 52, claimed his prize Monday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.
He plans to purchase a new truck with his winnings.
Mitchell’s Grocery, 800 Old Alabama Road S.W. in Mableton, sold the winning ticket.
“I went back out to my truck and started screaming,” Sailors said. “Then, I went to see my brother. I’m very excited.”
The Georgia Lottery instant game Maximum Green is loaded with cash prizes and top prizes of $1 million and $5 million.
Players can enter their non-winning tickets into the monthly Maximum Green Extra Chance Drawing to win one of 10 monthly prizes of $10,000. For more information, visit www.galottery.com.
