ATLANTA – A warehouse worker has packed a robust prize playing the Georgia Lottery. Calvin Smiley of Folkston won a $1 million top prize playing the new instant game Million $$ Match.
Smiley, 50, purchased his ticket at Sparkers #0002, 3879 Second St. S. in Folkston, while waiting on a car service repair.
“I went over to play just to pass the time,” he said. “When I scratched it, I kept looking at the ticket like, ‘This can’t be real!’”
The grandfather of two is excited over his windfall.
“I never in my wildest imagination dreamed that I’d win,” Smiley said.
There are no plans at the moment for his winnings.
“I want to get married, and there are things that I’ve wanted and couldn’t get,” he shared. “I want to enjoy life.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
