Mother’s birthday yields $10K second chance prize

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

ATLANTA – Kari Noor of Carrollton has won a $10,000 prize from being selected as a grand prize winner in the Georgia Lottery’s $1 & $2 Play It Again Second Chance Promotion.

Noor, 52, won her prize recently in Atlanta.

As a monthly cash prize winner in the Georgia Lottery’s $1 & $2 Play It Again Second Chance Promotion, Noor won a chance to select one envelope from 20, with prizes ranging from $5,000 to $100,000.

She chose envelope No. 14 and won a $10,000 prize.

Noor picked No. 14 because it is her mother’s birthday. She doesn’t have any grand ambitions for the money, just to pay off bills, she said.

Noor and her husband, Allan, have previously entered the Georgia Lottery’s $1 & $2 Play It Again Second Chance Promotion and won.

She has won 40,000 points before, and her husband has won 20,000 points two or three times, she said.

The lucky winner explained that the couple have used those points to purchase a vacuum cleaner, a printer, a George Foreman grill and other household items.

Noor considers herself to be lucky.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
