ATLANTA – A Georgia Lottery instant ticket has shored up a large prize for one lucky longshoreman in Savannah. Gregory Middleton, 57, won a $400,000 top prize playing the instant game $20 Million Blowout.
Middleton claimed his prize July 29 at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Savannah.
Budget Food Store, 1028 W. Bay St. in Savannah, sold the winning ticket.
“I just went in and bought four tickets,” the grandfather of three said. “I scratched the tickets that night, but I left the tickets on the floor.”
Middleton’s wife, Evelyn, picked up the tickets and checked them.
“My wife woke me up. She was overjoyed,” he said. “I couldn’t say anything. I feel wonderful.”
With grown children and three grandchildren, Middleton anticipates buying a new house with his winnings.
