ATLANTA – Sales representative Thomas Wright plays the Georgia Lottery to support the educational programs it funds. He also says that when it comes to winning, “You never know.” Mr. Wright’s positive philosophy paid off on July 29 when he won $314,855 playing Fantasy 5.
The Tucker resident usually uses a combination of birthdays and anniversary dates to choose his numbers. However, this time he decided to purchase a Quik Pik ticket. The winning numbers for the July 29 drawing were: 3-12-14-26-39.
Mr. Wright discovered that he won the top prize while watching the drawing. He also verified the winning numbers on the Georgia Lottery Web site. “I kept walking around the house saying, ‘What?’ ” Mr. Wright recalls.
The 60-year-old plans to use his winnings to perform some home renovations, buy a new car for his wife, Sondra, and save for retirement. “We’re going to do what we have to do and then put the rest away for retirement,” Mr. Wright explained.
Circle K #8459, located at 4271 Lavista Rd. in Tucker, sold the winning ticket. A second winning top prize ticket for the July 29 Fantasy 5 drawing was sold in Trenton.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Circle K #8459 will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $7,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
