ATLANTA – Dennis Holloway recently became another Georgia Lottery winner when he won $314,855 playing Fantasy 5.
The Fort Oglethorpe resident asked his father to purchase a Quik Pik ticket for him for the July 29 drawing. That night, his father checked the winning numbers online and found out that his son won the top prize. The winning numbers were: 3-12-14-26-39.
Mr. Holloway received the good news as a late night surprise. “I didn’t sleep the whole weekend,” Mr. Holloway says. “I was pretty excited.”
The excitement was contagious. When Mr. Holloway woke up his wife, Erika, and told her about his winnings, she screamed and ran around the room.
The first thing the 25-year-old plans to do with his winnings is give half to his sister, Dana, who contributed half of the money towards buying the ticket. Afterwards, Mr. Holloway will use the rest of his winnings to help his family and prepare for the child he and his wife are expecting in January.
Mr. Holloway and his sister both attended Northwestern Technical College in Rock Spring with the help of Georgia Lottery-funded HOPE grants.
The winning ticket was purchased at Hwy. 11 Quik Mart, located at Hwy. 11 N. in Trenton. A second winning top prize ticket for the July 29 Fantasy 5 drawing was sold in Tucker.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Hwy. 11 Quik Mart will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $7,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
