ATLANTA- Retired maintenance man Donald Mixter knows what it feels like to be a Georgia Lottery winner. Mr. Mixter played the Georgia Lottery Corporation’s new instant game, 7 Times the Money, and won the $77,777 top prize.
Mr. Mixter’s wife, Peggy, scratched the ticket while she was in the store and came running out. “She almost stopped breathing,” the Hawkinsville resident describes.
The 69-year-old has not decided on what he will do with his winnings. “That’s gonna take me a while,” Mr. Mixter says.
The winning ticket was purchased at Flash Foods #0130. The store is located at 498 Ga. Hwy. 247 in Bonaire.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
