ATLANTA – A recent Mega Millions drawing left Alpharetta resident Yonglin Yu as another pleasantly surprised Georgia Lottery winner. Mr. Yu matched the first five winning numbers in the August 23 Mega Millions drawing and won $250,000.
Mr. Yu, 42, found out that he held a winning ticket when he had it checked at a Georgia Lottery retailer.
The winning numbers for the August 23 Mega Millions drawing were: 6-7-8-13-40 and the Gold Mega Ball was 12.
The import and export business owner plans to use his winnings to buy something for his parents and his wife Li Ly’s parents.
Quiktrip #0707, located at 4086 Pleasantdale Rd. in Doraville, sold Mr. Yu his winning ticket.
As with other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions benefit education in the state of Georgia. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
