ATLANTA – Twenty healthcare industry workers are celebrating a quarter-million dollar Georgia Lottery win. The group matched the first five winning numbers in the Aug. 23 Mega Millions drawing and won $250,000.
David Beauchamp of Stone Mountain claimed the prize after checking the winning numbers on the Georgia Lottery’s Web site. “I was dumbfounded,” he says. “I had to ask another coworker to take a look because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”
According to Mr. Beauchamp, members of his office pool are ecstatic. “They’ve been bouncing up and down like rubber balls. They’re all very happy.”
The office pool members are employed by Medical Doctors Associates in Norcross. Mr. Beauchamp, who works as a credentialing assistant, will use his portion of the prize to “catch up on some landscaping and pay some bills off.”
The winning numbers for the Aug. 23 Mega Millions drawing were: 6-7-8-13-40 and the Gold Mega Ball was 12.
The lucky Quik Pik ticket was purchased at Racetrac #0490, located at 5700 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Norcross.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
