ATLANTA – Desmond Wandell always plays the same two number combinations when he buys a lottery ticket. One of them turned out to be lucky when Mr. Wandell won the top prize in the August 20 Fantasy 5 drawing. The winning ticket was worth $198,598.
The winning numbers for the Fantasy 5 drawing on August 20 were: 4-7-18-25-32.
After keeping the ticket for several days, the Douglasville resident found out that it was the winner when he checked his ticket at a Georgia Lottery retailer.
The underground utilities worker’s fiancée, Vicki, called the Georgia Lottery to find out the amount of the top prize. The couple were astonished and couldn’t believe it.
Mr. Wandell plans to use his winnings to pay off his mortgage and buy his fiancée a new car. Afterwards, he will invest the remainder.
The top prize winning ticket was purchased at 92 Mini Mart, located at 1493 Hwy 92 N. in Fayetteville.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. 92 Mini Mart will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $10,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
