ATLANTA- When it comes to playing the lottery, Robert Wright Jr. says, “When new tickets come out, I like to play them.” Mr. Wright continued this tradition and won $50,000 playing Extreme Green, one of the Georgia Lottery’s newest instant games. The Millen resident took his ticket to a Georgia Lottery retailer to confirm that it was a winner. “They were as surprised as I was,” Mr. Wright says. Mr. Wright, 56, plans to use his winnings to get some work done on his car. The winning ticket was purchased at Millen Bay Station, located on S. Hwy. 25 in Millen. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
