ATLANTA – A 35-year-old construction carpenter from Lawrenceville has hammered out a $1 million Georgia Lottery win. Marcos Canales played the new instant game $200 Million Cash Spectacular and won the $1 million top prize.
Georgia Lottery retailer Citgo Food Mart, located at 2490 Cruise Rd. in Lawrenceville, sold the lucky ticket.
According to Mr. Canales, he scratched the ticket in his vehicle in front of the store. “I was so happy!” he exclaims.
Mr. Canales and his wife, Pilar, have two sons – ages 2 and 14 months. According to Mr. Canales, the family will save and pay bills. He also hopes to use some of his winnings to make real estate investments.
Mr. Canales says he’s always been a lucky man. He won $1,000 three different times this year playing the instant game $100 Million Cash Spectacular.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
