"Mr. Lucky" Wins Quarter-Million Dollars

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

ATLANTA – Grady Weaver is so lucky that friends refer to him as “Mr. Lucky.” Mr. Weaver has lived up to his name after winning $250,000 playing Mega Millions. Mr. Weaver matched the first five winning numbers in the Sept. 16 Mega Millions drawing and won a quarter-million dollars.

The winning numbers for the Sept. 16 Mega Millions drawing were: 5-16-41-46-50 and the Gold Mega Ball was 1.

Mr. Weaver and his wife will use a portion of the winnings to pay bills. They are still deciding what they will do with the remainder. “We’re debating,” his wife explained. “It hasn’t hit us yet.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Gemini Food Mart, located at 4906 Paulsen St. in Savannah.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
