ATLANTA – Retiree Charles Nation plays the lottery for entertainment and because he thinks highly of the HOPE scholarship program. Mr. Nation became a Georgia Lottery winner when he matched all five numbers playing Fantasy 5 and won $330,980 in the Sept. 15 drawing.
Mr. Nation, 66, learned that he was the top prize winner when he watched the drawing. The winning numbers for the Sept. 15 drawing were: 3-9-16-26-30.
The Moultrie resident plans to use his winnings to perform home improvements. He will also donate a portion to the local Red Cross shelter, where he has volunteered since retiring from working as a telephone company supervisor in 1993.
Mr. Nation purchased his top prize winning ticket at One Stop #0001, located at 503 First Ave. N.E. in Moultrie.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. One Stop will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $16,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
