ATLANTA – James Philbeck became a Georgia Lottery winner when he matched 2 of 5 numbers in a Fantasy 5 drawing and won a free ticket. Mr. Philbeck’s luck continued when the free ticket had all five winning numbers for the Sept. 24 Fantasy 5 drawing. Mr. Philbeck won $101,668.
The winning numbers for the Fantasy 5 drawing on Sept. 24 were: 13-19-27-33-38.
Mr. Philbeck, 65, was quite surprised to go to the Georgia Lottery’s Web site and learn that he held that drawing’s top prize winning ticket.
The Belvedere, S.C. resident does not have any plans for his winnings at this time. “I still have to think about it,” Mr. Philbeck explained.
The top prize winning ticket was purchased at Circle K #5372, located at 1488 Reynolds St. in Augusta.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Circle K will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $6,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
