ATLANTA – The Georgia Lottery has added the Megaplier feature to Mega Millions, giving players a chance to win larger prizes up to $1 million.
Megaplier, which began Sunday in Georgia, is an add-on feature that will increase players’ non-jackpot prizes for an additional $1 per play. Depending on the Megaplier number that is selected during the draw, players will have an opportunity to multiply their winnings by two, three or four times.
“We launch many new games and promotions in a continuing effort to keep our games fresh and entertaining for players,” said Georgia Lottery Corp. President and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco. “Adding the Megaplier to Mega Millions in Georgia is an exciting opportunity to provide our players with more chances to win and to yield new revenue for lottery-funded HOPE Scholarships and Pre-K.”
To play Megaplier, players must simply select the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play per draw when they purchase their Mega Millions tickets. The Megaplier will be selected randomly at the beginning of each Mega Millions drawing. Winning Mega Millions with Megaplier tickets matching 5 of 5 numbers automatically will win $1 million, regardless of which Megaplier is drawn.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.25 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
