ATLANTA – Canton resident Joseph Ritchart recently played $200 Million Cash Spectacular, a Georgia Lottery instant game, and the experience left his heart racing and his hands shaking. Mr. Ritchart won the game’s $1 million top prize.
Mr. Ritchart was standing in his kitchen when he discovered that he held the top prize ticket. “I looked at my little dog and said, ‘Annie, I think we just won $1 million,’ ” Mr. Ritchart recounts.
The 50-year-old is still deciding what he will do with the winnings. In the meantime, he looks forward to continuing to help his friend by working on a horse farm. “This will just make horse riding much more fun,” Mr. Ritchart adds.
Mr. Ritchart bought his winning ticket at Shell Food Mart, located at 2880 Lower Union Hill Road in Canton.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
