Georgia Lottery Launches $300 Million Gold Rush and Rush to Win

Wednesday, February 8, 2006

ATLANTA – Gold fever is sweeping across Georgia. The Georgia Lottery Corporation (GLC) has launched $300 Million Gold Rush, a new instant game with 30 millionaires and the highest instant game top prize in Georgia history. In conjunction with $300 Million Gold Rush, the Georgia Lottery is conducting its biggest statewide promotion ever – Rush to Win.

The GLC marked its highest sales week in history with the introduction of $300 Million Gold Rush. Sales for the week ending Feb. 4 were a record-breaking $80,449,963.

$300 Million Gold Rush tickets went on sale statewide on Jan. 31. The $10 game offers over $304 million in total cash prizes including 10 top prizes of $2.5 MILLION, 20 $1 MILLION prizes, more than 19,600 prizes from $1,000 to $50,000, and over 498,000 prizes from $100 to $500.

To celebrate the debut of $300 Million Gold Rush and Rush to Win, the GLC visited Dahlonega – home of America’s first gold rush – on Jan. 30. GLC President and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco unveiled the new game tickets during an underground tour at Consolidated Gold Mines, and a GLC promotional armored truck circled the Dahlonega Gold Museum.

“There’s a new gold rush in Georgia, and Georgia Lottery players have their chance to strike gold,” said Mrs. DeFrancisco. “This is a phenomenal opportunity to create excitement around the state and raise dollars for the important educational programs we fund.”

To play $300 Million Gold Rush, scratch off the entire play area. Match any of YOUR NUMBERS to any of the WINNING NUMBERS and win the PRIZE shown for that number. Get a “GOLD” symbol and instantly win 10 TIMES the PRIZE shown for that symbol. Get a “NUGGET” symbol and instantly win $100. Players can win a free ticket, $15, $20, $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000, $10,000, $50,000, $1,000,000 and the top prize of $2,500,000. Overall odds for $300 Million Gold Rush are 1 in 3.39.

Adding to the excitement of $300 Million Gold Rush is the statewide promotion Rush to Win. Players can enter a second chance drawing with any non-winning $300 Million Gold Rush ticket for a chance to win $1 MILLION.

The Georgia Lottery will travel around the state of Georgia in three treasure trucks, promoting $300 Million Gold Rush and Rush to Win. During the contest period, these treasure trucks will make stops at over 100 retailer locations statewide as well as other popular venues. Players will have the opportunity to “crack the vault” and win great prizes at the on-site events. A complete schedule of the events will be posted at galottery.com.

Players have three ways to enter the Rush to Win promotion: enter ticket number at galottery.com; complete the back of the ticket, add a stamp, and mail the ticket as a postcard; or submit the ticket at a Rush to Win on-site event. Ten lucky players will be selected from all the second chance entries received to participate in the final Rush to Win $1 Million during halftime at the Atlanta Hawks game at Philips Arena on April 14, 2006.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
