ATLANTA – A Dublin assistant manager has pinned a half-million dollar win. Gloria Baker, who works at a discount retailer, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Jumbo Jumbo Bucks and won a $500,000 top prize. “I had to keep looking at my ticket to make sure it was right,” said Baker, 60. “It doesn’t seem real.” Baker purchased her winning ticket and scratched it at home. B & H Quick Stop, 310 Wrightsville Ave. in East Dublin, sold the winner. “I couldn’t sleep,” she said. “I am amazed.” A mother of five adult children with her husband, George, Baker anticipates purchasing a new home. “It’s taking time to sink in,” she said. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
