ATLANTA – A Lawrenceville man went shopping for groceries and struck gold. Daniel Snoke played the Georgia Lottery instant game $300 Million Gold Rush and won the game's $2.5 MILLION top prize. This is the highest instant game top prize in Georgia Lottery history.
Publix Super Market #0505, located at 1625 Pleasant Hill Rd. in Duluth, sold the lucky ticket.
According to Mr. Snoke, he scratched the ticket in the store. "I turned to a store employee and said, 'Will you look at this?' She looked at it and got hysterical," he shares. "Everybody in customer service couldn't believe it. Their jaws all dropped."
Mr. Snoke never did get his groceries. "I went in there to do some shopping and just forgot all about that. I was so excited that I just left."
Mr. Snoke works as a manager at a manufacturing company. He turned 50 in April and says that his win is a belated birthday gift.
According to Mr. Snoke, he will take some time to decide how he will spend his winnings. "It hasn't sunk in yet."
