ATLANTA – A Pierce County police officer has nabbed a $52,000 Georgia Lottery win. Frank Sports played Win for Life and won the game's incredible second prize of $1,000 a week for a year. That's $52,000!
"I'm happy, and I appreciate it," Mr. Sports says of his big win.
Flash Foods #0091, located on Highway 84 in Patterson, sold the winning ticket. Mr. Sports received a printout of the winning numbers at the store and was excited to discover that he was a lucky winner in the April 15 drawing.
The winning numbers for the Win for Life drawing on April 15 were: 2, 7, 16, 28, 32, 42 and the Free Ball was 22.
Mr. Sports, 59, resides in Blackshear and works in Patterson. He is married with two sons. According to Mr. Sports, he will use his winnings for his children's education.
Mr. Sports shares that he attended Waycross College as a HOPE scholar.
Win for Life is an exciting new game that offers a lifetime of security with a $1,000 a week for life top prize. To date, three players have won the game's amazing top prize, and 17 Georgia Lottery players have won $52,000 with the second prize of $1,000 a week for a year.
Win for Life drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:00 p.m. Each Win for Life ticket costs $1.
Win for Life is a multi-state game played in Georgia, Virginia and Kentucky. As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win for Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
