ATLANTA – Mechanic Derik Lamar McRae brought home a lottery win after playing Jumbo Bucks Classic, a Georgia Lottery instant game. He won the game’s $50,000 top prize.
Mr. McRae scratched his ticket at his mother’s house. “I jumped up and ran around the house,” Mr. McRae, 26, described.
The Douglas resident is still deciding on what he will do with his winnings.
Spirits South, located at 1403 S. Gaskin Ave. in Douglas, sold the winning ticket.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
