Wednesday, May 10, 2006

ATLANTA – A 75-year-old is celebrating a $75,000 Georgia Lottery win. Luther Nell Collins, a retired car dealership owner, won the top prize on the instant game $75,000 Cash Bonanza.

Mrs. Collins began her lucky streak by winning $30 playing Jumbo Bucks Classic, another instant game. Next, she scratched her $75,000 Cash Bonanza ticket. “All I could say was, ‘I won $75,000!’ ” Mrs. Collins recalled.

Mrs. Collins, a resident of Winder, plans to save her winnings.

Lay’s Food Mart #0002, located at 4360 Atlanta Hwy. in Bogart, sold the winning ticket.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
