Warthen Resident Drives Off with New Corvette Convertible

Wednesday, May 24, 2006

ATLANTA – A Warthen woman is revved up after winning a brand new car. Carrie Hall played the new Georgia Lottery instant game Corvette Cash and became the first person to win a Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. Busy Bee, located at 703 S. Harris St. in Sandersville, sold the lucky ticket.

“I was sitting in my car in front of the store when I scratched the ticket,” Mrs. Hall shares. “I went back in and yelled, ‘I won the car!’ ”

Mrs. Hall, 51, is looking forward to taking her husband, Charlie, and their two children out for a ride in her new car. Her first stop will be the store where she purchased the ticket. “Everyone in the store was so excited. I’m going back to the store to show them the car.”

Last year another Georgia Lottery player won a car with an instant ticket purchased at Busy Bee. Fred Watts of Sandersville purchased a Mustang Money ticket at the store and won a brand new Ford Mustang Convertible.

Corvette Cash is a $3 game with prizes up to $75,000 and the chance to instantly win one of 10 Chevrolet Corvette Convertibles. The Georgia Lottery will pay required minimum federal and state tax withholding, sales tax, tag and title fees for each vehicle prize winner.

Adding to the excitement of Corvette Cash is the statewide promotion KENO! Corvette Cruisin’. Players can enter a second chance drawing through June 15, 2006, for an opportunity to win one of three prizes including a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette leased on behalf of the winner for one year.

Players can enter the KENO! Corvette Cruisin’ Second Chance Drawing with a non-winning Corvette Cash instant ticket or a minimum $3 non-winning KENO! ticket (must be a minimum $3 purchase on a single ticket) at participating Georgia Lottery KENO! locations. Winners will be randomly selected from all the second chance entries received.

The Grand Prize Package includes: a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette leased on behalf of the winner for one year; $2,000 as a contribution towards any necessary insurance required of the winner; and the minimum required federal and state withholding taxes. Approximate retail value of the Grand Prize Package is $30,725.

The Second Prize winner will receive a Corvette Cash Merchandise Prize Pack including: a Corvette logo leather jacket, leather duffle bag, leather and brass logo key chain, Corvette logo cap, Corvette logo coverlet, and Corvette polo style shirt. Approximate retail value of Second Prize is $575.

The Third Prize winner will receive a combination of 100 Corvette Cash instant tickets and 50 KENO! Free Play coupons. Approximate retail value of Third Prize is $350.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
