ATLANTA – Columbia, S.C. resident Anna Birdette came to Georgia to visit, and she's leaving in a brand-new Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. Ms. Birdette played Corvette Cash, a Georgia Lottery instant game, and won a new car.
While touring Augusta, the 53-year-old decided that it would be the perfect day to buy a lottery ticket. "I just had a feeling," Ms. Birdette explains. "Something just said to get that ticket."
Ms. Birdette was standing in the store where the ticket was purchased when she found out that she was the new owner of a Corvette. "I told everyone in the store that I won the Corvette, and they started screaming and hollering," Ms. Birdette says.
Ms. Birdette was thrilled to win a new car, and when she did, she knew just what color Corvette to choose - Victory Red.
Kelly's Mini Mart, located at 2335 Washington Rd. in Augusta, sold the winning ticket.
Corvette Cash is a $3 game with prizes up to $75,000 and the chance to instantly win one of 10 Chevrolet Corvette Convertibles. The Georgia Lottery will pay required minimum federal and state tax withholding, sales tax, tag and title fees for each vehicle prize winner.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
