ATLANTA – The owner of a wrecker service is hauling an oversized load after a million-dollar Georgia Lottery win. Carmel Harvey of Hortense played $200 Million Cash Spectacular and won the instant game's $1 million top prize.
Paige's Minit Market #3, located at Highway 32 and Old Post Rd. in Hortense, sold the lucky ticket.
"I scratched the ticket in the store and couldn't believe it," Mr. Harvey shares. "I had to take it home and get my glasses."
Mr. Harvey, 60, plans to pay bills and purchase a new pick-up truck. With a birthday on August 1, Mr. Harvey says his million-dollar lottery win is an early birthday present.
$200 Million Cash Spectacular is a $10 instant game with 20 $1 million top prizes and over $210 million in total cash prizes.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
