Monday, July 17, 2006

ATLANTA – A Georgia Lottery player from Albany is celebrating a lifetime of security after winning $1,000 a week for life playing Win for Life. Broadus Bailey correctly selected the winning numbers in the July 8 Win for Life drawing and won the $1,000 A WEEK FOR LIFE top prize. That’s $52,000 every year for the rest of his life.

“It’s amazing to me!” exclaims Mr. Bailey. “I checked the results in the newspaper Sunday morning and called the Georgia Lottery hotline to confirm the numbers. I was so happy.”

The winning numbers for the Win for Life drawing on July 8 were: 17-19-32-34-37-39 and the Free Ball was 30. Mr. Bailey randomly selected the lucky combination.

Kwickie/Flash #0205, located at 300 E. Oakridge Dr. in Albany, sold the winning ticket.

Mr. Bailey, 56, works as a packaging specialist for a printing company. He and his wife, Judy, have two children.

According to Mr. Bailey, he plans to pay bills and purchase a new home.

To date, 10 players have won Win for Life’s incredible top prize of $1,000 a week for life. Twenty-five Georgia Lottery players have won the game’s amazing second prize of $1,000 a week for a year, adding up to $52,000 each, for a grand total of $1.3 million.

Win for Life drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:00 p.m. Each Win for Life ticket costs $1.

Win for Life is a multi-state game played in Georgia, Virginia and Kentucky. As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win for Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
