ATLANTA – Recently, James Bates decided to take a drive and when he stopped for gas, he also purchased a ticket for the Aug. 2 Win for Life drawing. The trip turned out to be a lucky one, and Mr. Bates won the top prize of $1,000 a week for life, which totals $52,000 a year.
The winning numbers for the Win for Life drawing on Aug. 2 were: 8-9-16-20-26-37 and the Free Ball was 31.
The 44-year-old found out that he matched all six numbers when he checked the Georgia Lottery Web site. “I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Mr. Bates explained. “I asked my son to check too.”
Mr. Bates, a resident of Pickens, S.C., works for Michelin. He purchased his winning ticket at Dad’s Restaurant #0002, located at 5061 Whitworth Rd. in Lavonia.
