ATLANTA – It’s the gift that keeps on giving! Susan Williams is celebrating a lifetime Georgia Lottery win after her mother gave her a top prize Win for Life ticket. Williams will receive $1,000 a week for the rest of her life for a total of $52,000 a year.
Kwick Check, located at 352 Harbins Rd. in Dacula, sold the lucky ticket.
“We stopped for gas, and my mom bought the ticket,” Williams explains. “She said, ‘If this ticket wins, it’s yours.’ ”
Williams, a 45-year-old Dacula resident, works as a commercial loan officer. According to Williams, she will put her winnings towards the new house she is building with her husband, Dewayne.
“We were already building a home, and my mom just wanted to help,” Williams shares. “She’s the best.”
The winning numbers for the Win for Life drawing on Oct. 7 were: 8-11-18-24-28-30 and the Free Ball was 3. Williams’ mother randomly selected the lucky combination.
There were three Win for Life second prize winning tickets sold in Georgia for this drawing worth $1,000 a week for a year, totaling $52,000. The second prize tickets were purchased in Conyers, Lawrenceville and Warner Robins.
Win for Life drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:00 p.m. Each Win for Life ticket costs $1.
Win for Life is a multi-state game played in Georgia, Virginia and Kentucky. As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win for Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
