ATLANTA – A Jesup resident will have 150,000 reasons to be thankful when Thanksgiving arrives this week. Penny Davis played the Georgia Lottery instant game Giant Jumbo Bucks and won one of the game's $150,000 top prizes.
Clyde's Market #0057, located at 3100 Lanes Bridge Rd. in Jesup, sold the winning ticket. Davis scratched her ticket in the store's parking lot.
"I kept looking at it to make sure it was real," Davis says. "Then I started showing it off!"
Davis, 41, is married with one son. She works for a company that builds private fences.
According to Davis, she will buy a new car with her winnings.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
