ATLANTA – A Dalton mechanic is revved up after a wild Georgia Lottery win. Roy Redwine played the instant game Joker’s Wild and won one of the game’s $10,000 top prizes.
Golden Gallon #3525, located at 201 Carbondale Rd. S.W. in Dalton, sold the winning ticket. Redwine scratched his ticket in the store.
“I almost had a heart attack! Wouldn’t you?” he said, laughing. “I was quite happy.”
Redwine, 46, and his wife, Amanda, have a 20-year-old daughter.
According to Redwine, he plans to pay bills and buy Christmas gifts with his winnings. “This couldn’t have happened at a better time. This is wonderful.”
Redwine shares that he has already benefited from the Georgia Lottery. He studied automotive technology at Dalton State College as a HOPE recipient.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
