Lucky Pelham winner claims instant $150,000

ATLANTA – Lynn Burgess claimed the $150,000 top prize from the Georgia Lottery instant game Giant Jumbo Bucks.

She scratched the winning ticket at the Thomasville Easy ‘N Out at 2021 Smith Ave. Burgess, 43, said she was in disbelief.

"I consider myself lucky," the title clerk said.

Burgess has an 11-year-old daughter who has participated in the lottery-funded prekindergarten program.

With her winnings, she plans to pay off bills.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
