ATLANTA – Floy Ann Jackson is celebrating a $75,000 top prize win from playing the Georgia Lottery instant game 2007 Bingo Party.
The grandmother of five purchased the ticket at Phillips 66, located at 2929 Lawrenceville Highway, in Tucker.
"I had to get my daughter. I had to be sure," said Jackson, who lives in Buckhead in Morgan County. "She looked at me, and I knew my eyes didn’t deceive me. It was true."
Jackson, 64, said her family has previously benefited from the Georgia Lottery. Her granddaughter has participated in the lottery-funded prekindergarten program. She also anticipates her grandson will gain the HOPE Scholarship following graduation this spring.
With her winnings, Jackson said she plans to pay off bills and buy Christmas gifts for the family.
"I’m very, very fortunate and happy," she said.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
