Thomasville man wins $30,000 playing Fat Cat

Sunday, February 4, 2007

ATLANTA – Look at what the cat dragged in for a Thomasville resident. Larry Laster played the Georgia Lottery instant game Fat Cat and won a $30,000 top prize.

"I was pretty shocked," said Laster, 40. "I told my wife I won $30,000, and she started screaming."

Laster, a truck driver, was traveling through Sylvester when he purchased the lucky ticket at EZ Corner #0022. The store is located at 504 W. Franklin St. in Sylvester.

Laster and his wife, Darlene, have three children.

According to Laster, "We're going to buy a new car and pay off some bills."

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
