ATLANTA – A Sunny Side resident is beaming after a recent Georgia Lottery win. Susan Jordan played the instant game Fat Cat and won a $30,000 top prize.
Lakeview County Store, located at 3970 N. Expressway in Griffin, sold the winning ticket. Jordan scratched her ticket in her car while parked in front of the store.
"I just sat in my car for a few minutes in shock," she said. "I went back in the store to make sure I wasn't dreaming."
Jordan, 54, works as an office manager for a heating and air conditioning company. She will use her lottery prize to pay bills and make home improvements.
"I'm also going to do something for my grandchildren," Jordan shared.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
