ATLANTA – A Lawrenceville man has won $1 million playing the new Georgia Lottery instant game Georgia's $500 Million Club.
Self-employed in the flooring business, Yaser Daoud, 28, bought his lucky ticket at Bk One Stop, 2429 Highway 29 Suite D, in Lawrenceville.
"I had this feeling today," Daoud said about purchasing the ticket. "When I saw that I'd won, I didn't believe it. I had to ask the cashier if it was right."
Daoud is still deciding what to do with his winnings.
"Maybe I'll open up a business, probably a clothing store in a mall," he said.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
