ATLANTA – A retired mail carrier received a special delivery from the Georgia Lottery. Reece Breedlove of Griffin matched the first five winning numbers in the Mega Millions drawing on Feb. 13 and won $250,000.
"I called the Georgia Lottery hot line and realized that I won," Breedlove said. "I just sat there and waited on my wife to get home. When I told her the news, she was about to have a fit."
The winning numbers for the Feb. 13 Mega Millions drawing were: 3-9-24-29-41 and the Mega Ball was 41.
Breedlove purchased his winning ticket at Texaco Food Mart, 3998 Highway 42, Locust Grove.
According to Breedlove, who has five children and 10 grandchildren, he plans to take a vacation with his wife, Elsie.
"I don't know where yet, but we may take a cruise," he shared.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
